I make apparel from vintage Japanese textiles - sourcing second-hand kimono and obi. My aim is to breathe fresh life into these exquisite fabrics and let them shine once again.
SUSTAINABILITY
I have a zero-waste approach when repurposing and I use everything I source, including linings and internal fabrics.
I design, cut and sew everything myself and am always mindful when repurposing these precious textiles, respecting the heritage they come from.
Ultimately, I aim to be an alternative to the fast, throwaway fashion industry and am committed to a planet friendly, sustainable business model, creating unique, timeless pieces that are designed to last and to be treasured.
BACKGROUND
I began making my own clothes from second-hand textiles found in charity shops and jumble sales when I was a teenager and since then I haven’t really stopped!
I studied at the London College of Fashion and have spent over 25 years bringing ideas to life in the fashion and costume worlds, specialising in design development and realisation through pattern cutting and making. Over the years, I’ve worked with leading fashion designers and created for high-profile clients, as well as contributing to numerous film, television, and stage productions.
I work from my sunny studio near Brighton, UK and am deeply passionate about traditional Japanese clothing & art. This brand is a personal vision that has emerged from many years spent studying, designing & making clothes.
